Standing on the Side of Love protest

UFL members join LAND Demonstration supoorting undocumented
immigrants before Vicker's Lecture by Secretary of State Chris Kobach on April 13


Under the leadeship of our Social Action Committee, led by Susan Cooper and with the help of Forrest Swall, over 25 Lawrence Unitarians joined over 250 persons to express their opposiiton to Arizona-type laws promoting state criminalization of undocumented immigrants, which Mr. Kobach has helped to write arong the country and propose for Kansas. The Lawrence Action Network for Diversity, which had organized the Interfaith prayer vigil at Plymouth Congregational Church, where Reveend Jill Jarvis took part, provided the leadership for this demonstration. UFL's "Standing on the Side of Law" banner was joined by another "Standing onb the Side of Love" banner from All Souls in Kansas City. The demonstration came one day after the Federal Appeals Court of 9th Circuit confirmed the lowercourt injunction on the Arizona law.
